A
Aroma- This refers to how a certain type of cannabis smells. Occasionally, people will also use this word to refer to a strain's flavor. A strain's aroma is determined by the specific balance of terpenes in the buds.
B

Badder- Badder, also called batter, is a cannabis concentrate named for its malleable consistency that resembles frosting or a thick cake batter.
BHO- Short for butane hash oil, this refers to a concentrate made via butane extraction. Essentially, the marijuana is dissolved in the butane, which separates the trichomes from the plant matter.

Blunt- This is an emptied-out cigarillo (usually bought from a convenience store) that's re-rolled with marijuana inside. You can also use pieces of natural tobacco leaves.

Bong- A bong is a marijuana water pipe, available in many sizes and shapes, usually made of glass.

Bowl- The part of a given pipe/bong/bowl/ where weed is loaded. It usually looks like a small cone, or cup-like, with a small hole (or a few) in the bottom to facilitate smoking.
Bud- Bud is the actual flower of the cannabis plant and is a general slang term for marijuana.

Budder- A soft, pliable concentrate with a form reminiscent of caramel. A wax or shatter concentrate will look like this after prolonged heat exposure and improper storage.
Budtender- Cannabis dispensary workers who may be able to answer your questions on strains, cannabis products, and make suggestions based on patient needs and wants.
C
CBD (Cannabidiol)- CBD is an abbreviation for cannabidiol, one of the main elements of cannabinoids. It has very low potency and is considered effective for medical use without the psychoactive or “high” effects.
Cannabis- A tall plant with a stiff upright stem, divided serrated leaves, and glandular hairs. It is used to produce hemp fiber and as a psychoactive drug (THC), often used for medicinal or recreational purposes.

Carb Cap- A glass apparatus used to cover the open top of a heated dab nail, concentrating the heat and allowing the dab to melt completely.
Cartridge- Similar to pods, cartridges are devices for delivering cannabis oil or concentrate to a vaporizer. Cartridges tend to be smaller than pods and are screw-in versus magnetic.
Concentrate- Concentrates, or extracts, are significantly more potent than a standard cannabis bud or flower. Processed to keep only the most desirable cannabinoid compounds while removing plant material. Concentrates are often developed for medical applications.
D
Dab/Babbing- The term dab refers to waxy cannabis concentrate that is placed onto a heated nail and inhaled in the form of vapor. In turn, dabbing is the act of partaking in dabs.
Decarboxylation – The process of applying heat to activate and release the CBD and/or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in cannabis for a purer and potent substance.
Distillate- Production technique for distilling cannabinoids to create a concentrate from the cannabis flower. Cannabis distillate is a pure, potent cannabinoid commonly used in edibles or through vaporizing.
E
Edible- Food, candy, or beverages products infused with cannabis or purified THC or CBD, depending on the intended purpose of the product. Edibles take longer to feel the effects of the compounds.
Extraction – The different processes by which cannabinoids within the plant can be extracted for use. These processes include CO2 extraction, alcohol extraction, butane hash oil extraction, etc.
F
Flower- Another word for weed in bud form.
Full-Spectrum Oil- A type of CBD oil that includes a comprehensive selection of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, including small amounts of THC.
420- 420 is a number that has come to be associated with marijuana use and sometimes signifies the date April 20 which is linked to cannabis. Similarly, 710 and July 10 can be associated with OIL (710 upside-down). （What dose “420” mean?）

Ganja- Another way to refer to weed in general. The term is more popular amongst old-fashioned stoners, though.

Grinder- An accessory used to break down weed nugs into a finer state. This is done so it can be loaded into a bowl/joint/blunt.
H
(Hash)
Hash- Hash is short for hashish, a cannabis resin from the top of the plant, used for recreational and medical consumption. It is usually very strong and can be smoked, chewed or swallowed.
Hemp- Hemp is a variant of Cannabis sativa that produces small amounts of THC, and is used primarily for industrial applications.
Hybrid- This can either refer to the result of breeding two strains, or a strain that has both indica and sativa genetics.
I
Indica- Cannabis indica plants produce the sort of weed known for making one feel relaxed or "couch-locked". Not too many plants are pure indicas, so you'll usually find indica-dominant hybrids with some sativa genetics.
Isolate- Isolates are what they sound like; a certain component of cannabis, and nothing but. CBD users who want to avoid THC completely, for example, will use CBD isolates. These are in contrast to full or broad-spectrum and full-spectrum formulas, which contain other cannabinoids and terpenes.
J
(Joint)
Joint- A joint is a rolled marijuana cigarette, also known as a reefer, blunt, etc. A single inhale of cannabis is called a hit.
K
Kush- Yet one more way to refer to weed. Technically, however, it's meant to reference indica strains with roots in the Hindu Kush mountains.
L
Live Resin- Live resin is made when the extraction process is performed with flash-frozen cannabis (rather than cured buds). The resulting product contains notably higher amounts of certain cannabinoids and terpenes than concentrates made with cured flower.
M
Marijuana – The psychoactive dried resinous flower buds and leaves of the female hemp or cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa or C. indica) that contain high levels of THC and are smoked, vaped, or ingested (as in baked goods) especially for their intoxicating effect.
Medible- Medible and edible cannabis refers to cookies, brownies, cakes, drinks, etc., that are prepared with marijuana for eating or drinking. They are a very popular alternative to smoking marijuana.
O
Oil- This typically refers to cannabis concentrate in oil form (CBD oil is the most popular example).
P
Pod- Discreet device for delivering cannabis concentrate through vaporization. Brands offering proprietary pod designs and batteries provide consistent quality.
Pot- An old-fashioned way to refer to weed.

Pipe- A marijuana pipe is similar to and used much like a tobacco pipe, although glass pipes are the most popular.
R
Resin- On one hand, it can be used to refer to the sticky trichomes on cannabis buds. On the other, it refers to the sticky black residue found inside an uncleaned bowl. Both can be smoked, but you'll have a much better time with the former than the latter.
Rig- A rig or oil rig is a large pipe with a heated nail used to vaporize and inhale cannabis concentrates. The use of a rig also requires heat from a torch.
S
Sativa- Cannabis sativa plants produce the sort of weed that makes people feel upbeat, focused, and euphoric. As with indica plants, however, pure sativas are rare, and you'll more often find sativa-dominant plants.

Shatter- Shatter is a transparent form of cannabis concentrate that, when cold, resembles amber-colored glass. It has a very high THC and is commonly used in dabbing.
Skunk- A specific group of strains descended from Skunk #1. As the name implies, they're characterized by a pungent earthy aroma.
Strain- A certain type of cannabis with a particular set of genetics and traits.

T
Terpene – The aromatic and flavorful component of the essential oils contained in plants. More than 100 terpenes have been identified in the cannabis plant.
THC- An abbreviation for tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis that is responsible for the “high” effects.
Tincture – A tincture is a liquid cannabis extract that is often dosed with a dropper. Tinctures can be flavored and are usually placed under the tongue, where they are absorbed quickly. Effects can be felt within minutes.
Topical- Topical is a kind of cannabis product such as a lotion or cream that is applied to and absorbed through the skin.
V
Vape- Common or slang term for an electronic smoking device. A vaporizer heats flowers or oils that activate cannabinoids and turns them into a vapor that can be inhaled.
Vaporizer- A device that allows you to inhale the vapor from cannabis concentrate or flower. It can either be handheld or stationary, depending on the make and model. (2022 Best cannabis vaporizers in VIVANT)
W
Wax- Cooled and dried form of cannabis concentrate, noted for opaque color and coconut oil-like qualities.
Weed- Weed is a slang term of marijuana and cannabis.
